Tate & Lyles Golden Syrup in 10.6floz (500grams) tin. Originally made by Abram Lyle in 1883 Golden Syrup is a by-product produced in the sugar refining process. It has a wonderful sweet nutty taste without the bitterness of molasses. The tin is a kitchen icon, and this 'liquid gold' with its rich warm taste, mellow mouth-feel and appetising aroma can be used in a wide range of tasty recipes for cake baking, rich homemade biscuits and popular desserts, including mouthwatering flapjacks, moist sponge puddings and tantalizing gingerbread.

Golden Syrup Recipe - Wholemeal Syrup Tart - 175g (6oz) wholemeal flour, 75g(3oz) margarine, 30ml (2tbsp)cold water, 225g(8oz) Lyle's Golden Syrup, 50g(2oz) brown breadcrumbs, 10ml(2tsp)lemon juice.

Serves 6

Rub the margarine into the flour, and bind together with water. Roll out and line an 18cm(7inch) flan ring or sponge tin with pastry. Warm the syrup and lemon juice. Stir in the breadcrumbs.
